Old Family Videos

I have been watching my old family videos for the past couple days, since our cable box is being stupid. It is so much fun to watch these! It has motivated me to remember to take more videos of Tanner so we can hopefully have as many of our little family as I do of my family that is now all grown up.

Some fun pictures that have been taken recently:

My Uncle Stan (who we named Tanner after) gave him this Mickey Mouse at the hospital when he came and visited when he was born. Mickey was getting jealous of everyone else holding Tanner, so I gave him a turn.
Great Grandma Norman (top)and Great Great (grand?) Aunt Nikki (bottom)came and visited us. They were finally able to meet the little guy and hold him.
We went to family dinner at my dad's, and I was able to get some better pictures of Grandma and Grandpa Cannon holding Tanner. So precious!
Lately when we burp him, he throws a fit and arches his back so far it seems like he is trying to do a back flip off of our shoulders.
He actually fell asleep on Dad's shoulder while burping him, so I had to get the proof! And it was just dang cute.
He was making some pretty cute faces earlier today, so I had to snap some shots of this as well. Such a cutie!
And last but not least, here is some video I took of him today after my family videos motivated me.

100!

100th post!

It took me a little while to get here, but it happened!

Figured I would celebrate by having a video of Tanner smiling.

He's been smiling for a week or 2 now, just haven't been able to get a video of it until now.

Enjoy!

Poor little guy scratched himself a couple times. Not sure if you can see, but there are 3 on and around his nose, and a long one above his left eye.

Needless to say, he has been wearing those newborn mittens for the past few days!

Getting Bigger!

Life has finally slowed down a little and we are all having a great time! I am still getting used to this whole "I'm a mom" thing, but it is so much fun I wouldn't trade it for anything. I've been used to saying "I'm Mom," "I'm his mother," or "He's my baby," only because that is how I was constantly identifying myself to the doctors and nurses at the hospitals we were at. But it still doesn't seem like it has actually hit me yet that I AM a MOM! My Aunt Carol (I've called her Carler since I was a kid) was finally able to come and meet Tanner. She is quite the busy lady (I think she's in Hong Kong right now with my sister Becky), so it was very nice to finally get her to the house to see him! She couldn't stop commenting on how darling Tanner is, how happy she is for us and that it's looking like I'm a pretty good mom so far. Whew! Love you Carler! We gave Tanner a bath the other day. His hair always poofs out when I rub it dry, and I couldn't help but get a picture of it this time! He is so tortured...
I also took him to the pediatrician this week to get his second dose of his RSV shot.
He luckily got his first dose at CHLA before he was discharged. At first they were not wanting to give it to him, but I kept on them about it until they agreed to do it. I told them since we were going back to Utah and it was crazy out here at that time, I was not about to risk taking him home to that without some kind of protection.
There are three doses all together, but I am being told he may not need the third shot... we'll see I guess.
RSV is finally dying down here in Utah, but I am still wanting to get him vaccinated for it since he is just a wee bit more fragile than the average newborn.
While we were at the pediatrician's office for his shot they also weighed him. He gained an entire pound since the last time I took him in (about 2 weeks ago)! He is now weighing 7 lbs 14 oz.
When I am holding, feeding, burping or just looking at him, he already seems so big! At least bigger than I'm wanting him to be... I want him to stay tiny! But then when I see Kollin holding him, he still looks itty bitty.
Also, my dad came over the other day and held him for a bit, and he seemed even smaller in my dad's arms! I think he just needs to come over more often to remind me that Tanner is still small... hee hee
But then I saw this picture that Kollin took of us... He had fallen asleep on my shoulder after burping him. I was leaning back far enough on the couch that I didn't need to hold him, and he could just snuggle right into me. (awwww)
Yup! He's still pretty small!

Newborn Pictures (5 weeks old)

Wonderfully talented Aunt Britta came and took some beautiful pictures of Tanner! There are tons more, but these are just a small example of what she did....
Thank you Britta!!

Maternity Photos

I finally got my maternity photos back! I would have gotten them much sooner, but there were other things that came up that were obviously more important. I am so happy and excited that I finally have these! Thanks Barb! These are just some of them. ALL of them are absolutely gorgeous though.

Chicks Dig Scars

People have been asking me how Tanner is doing, and how his incisions are healing. So here are some pictures to hopefully show how GREAT he is looking! (hey Aunt Callie! the one's for you!) The two little dots on either side just below the long scar are where his pacer wires were. These should go away completely. The bigger blob below the long scar is where his chest tube was. There will be a permanent scar there, but it will lighten up a lot. It is looking so much better than just a week ago! It was a little infected before...
Also, the scab from his belly button finally fell off yesterday! He has an official innie! I tried to get a picture without waking him up, but his diaper is covering it, so hopefully I'll get one later.

One Month Old

I can't believe it's been a month already.
Even if he's only been home for a week.
I'm sure I'm going to say that when he's 16 also...
Right now he next to refuses to sleep alone. I have tried to get him to sleep in his crib, but he always ends up in bed with me within ten minutes. It's ok with me though! We missed out on a lot of bonding time when he was in the hospital, so we're making up for it now.
He is just like a normal newborn still.
Eat. Poop. Sleep. Cry.
And I'm loving it!
Weight: 6lbs. 6oz. (finally back up to his birth weight! yay!)
Length: 19 inches (I'm not sure where that extra 1/2 inch went from when he was born...)
I love you Tanner!
xoxo

Just the Beginning of Pictures

We went grocery shopping last night, which was much needed after being in California for the past 2 weeks. I wanted to find one of those "My first St. Patrick's Day" onesies, but there weren't any small enough for him. So I found this onesie instead and had to get it! It was a preemie size (they didn't have anymore newborn), but it is still big on him. hee hee He sure looked cute for his doctor appointment today! We went in to follow up on his weight to make sure he is gaining. He has gained 4oz since his last appointment a few days ago! Yay! He is almost a month old, and finally back up to his birth weight. Whew! Of course, he zonked out during the car ride home... he is still looking just like this at the moment, so I am stealing the moment to update the blog. :) This is a little off subject, but this was me when I was 10 days old. I think he looked a lot like this when he was first born, but has changed so much already. I still think I have a Mini-me though!

Keep the Good News Coming!

We are all settling in at home very well. It is so nice to have Tanner at home! Now I get to catch up on all the normal newborn stuff I guess.

He is a very well behaved baby though. I was expecting this to be much worse, and much more sleep deprived. He only wakes up a couple times a night to eat, and is great the rest of the time. There are occasions where it is hard to get him back to sleep. You can totally tell he is tired, but he'll fight going to sleep.

He even watched some NASCAR with Daddy the other day. I'm sure it was just all the bright colors of the cars flashing by, but it was way cute.

We went to his pediatrician's office to day to follow up on his weight and make sure he is gaining. He has gained 4oz since his appointment a few days ago! Yay! That means he is back to his birth weight... and almost a month old. sheesh.

He sure did look cute for the doctor today though. This is a preemie onesie that we found at Wal-Mart yesterday while grocery shopping, and it is still big on him. So cute!

He was totally (and still is at the moment) zonked out after the car ride home.
I also wanted to compare him to me. This is me when I was 10 days old. I think I've got a Mini-me!
