Hot, Hot, HOT!

Holy CRAP has it been hot lately! Today it hit 104* so we came up with some great ways to cool down. All of the adults got into the kiddie pools (the kids where there as well, just forgot to get pictures of them). Troy and Kollin also came up with a great canopy/shade to keep the deck in the shade so we wouldn't get completely fried. It looks really white trash right now, but Troy is going to build something permanent soon that will look much much better.

I thought it was so funny that we were in all of the little pools that I had to get some pictures. Since it is still supposed to be 100* and above for at least the next few days, this was a great idea!

Tanner's First Swimming Lessons

Tanner just finished his first session of swimming lessons. He happened to be the only one in his class, so we got private lessons for the price of public! It was really nice that his teacher was able to have her undivided attention on him, but it also made it a little hard since he sometimes didn't want to listen to her since he got so comfortable with the 1 on 1.

Either way, he has made huge steps in becoming more comfortable in the water. By the second lesson his teacher already had him laying on his back which we have never been able to get him to do, not even in the bath tub. She has also gotten him to lay on his back while swimming which is wonderful since we could barely get him to swim with us on his belly!

He has now started the next session of lessons at a level higher. So we shall see what he learns now!

Chase being such a good little cheering section.

15 Months Old

Well hey there Silly Face!

These last few months have been very busy for you. So many leaps and bounds going on, it's just crazy.

You are finally walking the majority of the time. You started taking more than 3 steps at a time around 13 months old. But you still preferred to crawl. But now, just two months after that you are walking all over the place and crawling less and less. At first you had to pull yourself up on things to stand and take off walking. Then if you fell you would just crawl. Which was interesting because usually babies figure out how to stand up from a sitting or crawling position before they learn to walk. But now just over the last couple of days you have finally started to figure out how to do it and I believe that is why you are walking so much more now. Almost 100%! I'm going to miss having a crawling baby, but it was so fun while it lasted.

With all of that being said, that just means you are that much more busy and getting into EVERYTHING. You area such a climber as well. You climb on top of the toilets, onto chairs then onto the table, on top of toy boxes, onto the couch, onto the rocking chair.... you get the idea. Just today you got your first shiner by climbing onto the arm of the couch then doing a nose dive, head first into your toy box before Daddy or I could catch you. We're just happy you weren't hurt worse. We have a feeling this won't be your least injury with how much of a daredevil you are.

You are saying a few little words. But you are saying them ALL the time. You are a pretty vocal kid! Your most used word is "mama." You mostly say that when you want something. Of course. If someone is holding you, you will reach and say "mama" over and over. So everyone thinks you're reaching for me. But little do they know that you do the same thing even when I'm holding you. I think it's more of a "Mama, get me this thing I'm reaching for," not "I want my mama!" Although it does mean that occasionally. You will also say "dada" when you are just in the mood to talk and think you are being silly. You also say "oh," "uh-oh" (a lot), and you even say your name! The rest is mostly baby babble and not many discernable words.

You hair is get pretty long, and unfortunately it looks like you're losing some of your curls I was raving over before. They still pop out every now and then, but not as tight of a curl as before. Maybe when I'm ready to cut your hair we'll experiment and see if they curls will come back when it is a certain length.

In my last post I was pretty frustrated with our nursing relationship and wanted to stop. I am happy to say that after I went to the Women's Conference with the ladies in the family and left you home with Daddy for 5 hours, we are good to go! You are finally taking a sippy cup and are only nursing first thing in the morning, naps and bedtime. Which also means you are finally getting really good at sleeping through the night. Now that I am not your main source of food or pacifier anymore I am very happy with our nursing relationship. I am happy to go as long as you'd like, or until it gets weird. Just over the last couple of days at nap time you seem to not want to nurse as much. I am not sure if that means you are self weaning, or if I am drying up. Time will tell.

You have also been getting a few molars. Two on top and two on bottom. Poor guy! It kind of looks funny right now since you have a gap between the 4 front teeth and then the molars. So cute though!

I weighed you on our home scale today and I have to say I'm a bit worried. It says you are weighing just over 18 pounds. I know I shouldn't compare, but when Tanner was your age he was already 20 pounds and he's always been the small one! But you are still much taller than he was. I am also worried about what your Dr is going to say at your appointment next week. You are a very happy baby and you eat all the time, so it's not like you're starving. It is like you have piranhas in your tummy. And with how active you are, you are probably burning it all off as soon as your done eating. The only thing is that you really don't drink that much. You only drink when you nurse in the morning, naps and bedtime, and you also have a sippy cup of milk at lunch but you hardly drink any of it. You'll have some water in a sippy cup as well, but not much. So we got you some pediasure to see if that can pack on some weight. I guess we'll just see what your Dr says next week!

You are still in size 3 diapers and have finally gone up a size or 2 in clothing. You will wear anywhere from 6 months to 12 months clothes. So you are just tall and skinny! And now that you're walking, you are wearing a size 4 in shoes. You skipped right over the first couple of sizes that we saved for you from Tanner. Which also means you went right to hard sole shoes since it is pretty hard to find soft sole shoes in your size (at least that don't cost an arm and a leg). I'm pretty sad about that since you haven't been able to get used to walking in shoes before you couldn't feel the ground under you. But you have been dong very very well.

Weight: 18.13 pounds
Height: 30.5 inches

You are so loved, and we couldn't imagine life without you!

Father's Day 2015

I really hope Kollin had a good Father's Day. He got to sleep in for a little while and the boys and I gave him a U of U jersey (what he's wearing in the pictures) as a gift.

We really needed to go grocery shopping and do a lot during the day, so it was unfortunately a very hectic and busy day for everyone.

We wanted to make a Grandpa apron for Grandpa Stark for Father's Day since all of the grandkids were in town and could get their handprints. We also decided to make one for Grandma Stark. It was fun getting all of the kids covered in paint and letting them write their own names (the ones who can write) by their handprints after everything was done. They turned out so cute!

This year we both got to spend time with our dads since Grandpa Stark was in town.

First we went over to see Great Grandma Stark since that is where Grandpa Stark was. We took advantage and got some really great 4 generations pictures with both Tanner and Chase! This is the first time we have been able to do 4 generation pictures with Grandpa Stark.

We gave Grandpa Stark the apron and he was so touched. It seemed like it took him a little bit to process it, but then he got very emotional and started to cry. I was tearing up behind the camera trying to take pictures!

Then we went to my dad's for dinner and got to eat great food and visit. My dad is so hard to shop for, but I found him the perfect card! I also had Tanner sign it. Everyone got a kick out of it when he opened it.

I wish I got a closer picture of their names. I'm sure I will someday with Grandma's apron.

Skip, Brody, Callie and Cousins in Town!

Skip, Brody and Callie came into town this weekend! Skip (Grandpa Stark) and (Grampbear) Brody came so Skip could spend time with Great Grandma Stark since we don't know how much longer she is going to be with us. This was also the first time that I got to finally meet Brody.

We did lots of hanging out on our back deck with Grandma Stark, playing in the swimming pools and sandbox.

We also went to a splash pad with Grandpa Stark then out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

Lots of kids. I was ready to pull my hair out by the end of dinner!
Grandpa Stark's first time meeting Chase, Cadence and Porter
Uncle Troy picked up Tanner and held him over one of the water spouts. Tanner was not amused and threw a tantrum. And of course I had to take a picture of it!

The Dallas Cousins are in Town!

Clark, Megan and their kiddos came into town for a little while this week. Megan will actually be here until sometime in July, but Clark had to go back to Dallas for work. We all gathered for an impromptu dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Cannon's house and played our little hearts out.

All of the kids seemed to get along very well, since that has not always been the case in the past. But I'm sure that will not always be the case anyway. You take what you can get with small kids!
And Chase was being VERY naughty! Little stinker monkey.

Scottish Festival 2015

The Scottish Festival was very HOT. We slathered everyone up in sunscreen and had a great time. We watched the bagpipe bands, shopped around, ate good food and even met Boba MacFett. It was a great day, and I felt great that we all returned home just as pale skinned as when we left.

Everyone was exhausted.

Big Boy Bike for Tanner

Tanner received 2 bikes for Christmas. One is a balance bike from Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Richens. The other is a two wheeler with training wheels from Mom and Dad.

We have tried taking the balance bike out a couple of times and he unfortunately hasn't liked it much. Hopefully once he is more comfortable he'll like it more.

Today we finally got out his two wheeler and went riding around our dead end street. He was very hesitant at first, but after a little while was pedaling on his own and even out running Daddy! It was so fun to watch him ride his big boy bike for the first time!

Windy Windy Splash Pad

We went to the splash pad for the first time this summer today. It was SO windy at this one! We came to this same one once last year and I remember it being quite windy then as well. Which is sad, because this splash pad is the kind that only has the water coming out of the ground and no pipes overhead, which Tanner and I like the most. There is also an amazing park right next to it. Maybe we will tough it out again sometime and deal with the wind. We shall see.

I was having Baby Tanner flashbacks today! I have never really thought that Tanner and Chase look alike until now. And I'm not even looking at their pictures!
